More Than Forgiveness: A Bigger Picture of Salvation

by Pastor Joe Langley

What does the Bible say about the forgiveness found in Jesus?

The Bible says that we are forgiven. We are freed from guilt. Our sins are separated as far as the east is from the west. It says that the “once for all” sacrifice was accomplished.

But then the Bible says that there is more. Much more. “We were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, but how much more shall we be saved through His life!” Romans 5:10

We have heard about the death of His Son. But what is that “much more?” How are we saved through His life?

Is there a bigger picture of salvation? Is there more than forgiveness?

Children and Grace: Helping Your Child Discover God’s Grace

by Pastor Joe Langley

Your child is headed towards one of three spiritual futures.

He might go down the road of religion and rules where he feels that God’s opinion of him is based on his own attempts at righteousness. He might choose a second road where he has faith but feels that he needs to add his performance into the equation. Both of these roads lead to a life of questioning if he is good enough to be pleasing to God. There will be cycles of failures and rededications followed by more failures and more rededications. Rules will continued to be added on top of the existing rules. Instead of realizing what Jesus has already done, the emphasis will be on what he is to do. And not do. And to do better. There will always be a better and there will always be a more.

There is a third road. It is the road of God’s grace which is based solely on the work of Jesus. That road will be a life of experiencing Christ’s presence in your child’s heart. It will be a life characterized by love, joy and peace.

Which road will your child choose? Will he choose religion or will he choose the true Gospel of God’s Grace? Or will he decide to just give up and choose to not go down one of the spiritual roads at all?

Unfiltered Grace: Believing the Whole Grace Message

Picture

by Pastor Joe Langley

There often is no tension in combining the Biblical teachings on grace with an emphasis on our own good religious works because we pass everything we hear through the filters of past teachings and personal understandings. We comfortably mix grace and works and sense no contradiction in saying “Grace, but…” or “Grace and…”

Grace just has to be filtered down a little. But when it is filtered down, it becomes only a shadow of its whole.

What would happen if we allowed grace to be grace? What if we removed all the religious and man-created filters and considered the truth of God’s pure grace? What would happen if we accepted the Biblical teachings about grace at their face value? What if we were to believe the whole Grace Message?

Memories in a Daughter’s Heart

memories

by Deborah Chapman Newell
“Sometimes all we want to do is wake up and think the events of the night before were all a bad dream. A nightmare. We lay there and think everything will be fine. Then we open our eyes and look around us. And we know everything isn’t fine. And won’t be ever again. It is my hope that this story can be used as a lesson to other mothers and daughters traveling through this journey of dementia and ultimately the grief that comes after losing the most special person in our life. Others have already traveled this road, and each of you has your own story, sometimes poignant, sometimes humorous. You are not alone in this journey. But it’s a difficult journey. Pack only what you need in your suitcase, because there will be a lot of souvenirs you will collect on the way.”Click here to order.

The Gambler’s Daughter

Picture

“Hey, it’s time to go inside. Walk with me, Red. These others don’t appreciate me,” Kit sighed.

“Sure, Kitridge. I’ll even let you carry my empty lunch box.”

“Oh no, that looks too much like a girl’s purse. I have to protect my image.”

“Sir, this is a genuine fisherman’s creel.” Laughing we walked across the school yard and entered the building. Across the ocean war raged, and each of us knew that our lives could be changed quickly; yet that beautiful fall day shimmered around us, and peace reigned.

The Kulwicki Chronicles: A Race of the Heart

Picture

by Evelyn J Wagoner

The call was long distance; he was on his way to Bristol for the night race. I never questioned even once that it was really he; I recognized his voice. Subsequent to the initial shock, I actually felt a little embarrassed. He said my poem and letter had touched him. All I could think was that I wished I’d written something a little better; something that hadn’t sounded so sophomoric. Something Pulitzer-Prize winning.

But still, somehow, what I had written had moved him. Later, when we finally met and I asked him why, he had a ready answer. Everything else that had been sent to him had been about a race, the car, the driver. I was the first to write about him.
