Nancy C. Smith“One of twelve siblings, I spent much of my childhood as a “coal miners daughter” living in one of the camp houses. As a teen my father purchased isolated farm land on the top of a mountain. Because of our isolation, we resorted to creating our own fun and games. A brother who had “music in his bones” created his own musical instrument from a comb before he was able to buy a banjo for seven dollars. I developed a passion for reading and particularly loved committing poetry to memory. Subsequently through the magic of imaginative and descriptive situations, I began writing my own poetry and stories.”
